Does resizing reduce quality?

Making an image smaller (downscaling) doesn't visibly reduce quality — and it dramatically reduces file size, which is great for the web. Making an image larger (upscaling) will look soft, since you can't add detail that wasn't there. Always resize from your original, not from an already-resized copy.
